Why Forgiveness Is About Your Freedom, Not Their Deserving It
Lesson
One of the biggest misconceptions about forgiveness is believing it means what happened was okay.
It doesn't.
Forgiveness is not excusing betrayal.
It is not minimizing abuse.
It is not pretending you weren't hurt.
Forgiveness is choosing not to let the pain control your future.
When you hold onto resentment, bitterness, and anger, the person who hurt you may move on while you continue carrying the weight.
Forgiveness is not something you do because they deserve it.
You do it because your freedom matters.
You deserve peace.
You deserve healing.
You deserve a future that is not defined by what someone else did to you.
Forgiveness doesn't always happen overnight. Sometimes it is a daily decision to release the hurt, surrender the need for revenge, and trust God with justice.
You are not freeing them.
You are freeing yourself.
