Forgiveness Does Not Always Mean Reconciliation | A Christian Perspective

Forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same.

As Christians, we are called to forgive so bitterness does not remain rooted in our hearts. But forgiveness does not require you to return to an unsafe, abusive, or toxic relationship.

Forgiveness can happen within your own heart, with God’s help. Reconciliation requires genuine repentance, accountability, lasting change, restored trust, and emotional safety from both people.

You can forgive someone and still maintain boundaries. You can release resentment without reopening the door. You can pray for them and still protect the peace God is restoring within you.

“For everything there is a season… a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1,5

My upcoming book, Your Worth Was Never Negotiable, will help you heal from the toxic relationships that made you forget who you are.
